Meet sweetheart pup Darla from our "D Litter" (which includes siblings Darwin, Dixie, Dolly and Dundee). These little ones came to us from our rescue friends in Ohio. They are Australian Cattle Dog (aka Blue Heeler) mixes, and sweeter, more adorable and loving pups, you could not find!
All of these pups LOVE their people. They are smart and clean and have been doing great with using their doggie door to potty outside. While they, of course, love to play, they will bypass that to be picked up, hugged and kissed. Foster mommy is in LOVE with these pups! We anticipate (though cannot guarantee) that they will be medium in size when full grown (~ 35 to 45 lbs).
In terms of individual personality, little Darla is a total love-bug of a puppy. She was scared when she first arrived, and foster mom carried her around for a few minutes -- and, after that, this little girl is nothing but a bundle of love. Darla is extremely affectionate, and she is also a gentle puppy with a very soft temperament. Above all else, this little one wants the love and companionship of her people. Of course, she loves to play too, as do all puppies. But Darla is truly a "people pup," and she will need a home where she is given lots of love and included in day-to-day family life. This baby is a truly wonderful pup!
If you have the time, willingness and ability to commit to Darla – for her whole life – no matter what may lie ahead in yours, please register on
www.safeatlast.net (click Register on the left-hand side of our homepage). When you receive your password on your email account, then log back on to the website with your username and password to complete the SAFE AT LAST adoption application (click Forms/Applications on the left-hand side of our homepage).
Until we have your completed SAFE AT LAST application, we cannot consider you. We do NOT accept the applications of other organizations (including Petfinder, Adopt a Pet, All Paws, etc). So, thank you for your cooperation and understanding.
Once we have your completed Safe At Last adoption application, we will email you to schedule a phone interview. After that, we will call your references and perform a home assessment. An adoption fee of $375 and a refundable $35 neuter deposit (required by NYS law) also apply. We are an all-volunteer organization; we charge an adoption fee to cover our costs (medical, vetting, transport, food, etc) and to help other dogs in need. 100% of your adoption fee - every single cent - goes back to the rescue to pay for our costs and help other dogs, particularly those with special needs.
Our animals are fostered in private homes; we do not have a centralized facility. THEREFORE, YOU CANNOT MEET THE PUPS UNTIL YOU HAVE BEEN APPROVED FOR ADOPTION. ALSO, we do not restrict adoptions by location, but ADOPTERS ARE REQUIRED TO COME TO THE FOSTER HOME (IN THIS CASE, FULTONHAM, NY) TO COMPLETE THE ADOPTION. WE DO NOT DELIVER OR SHIP OUR RESCUE ANIMALS.
If you have any questions, please email us at info@safeatlast.net. We are happy to assist.
Thank you for your interest & for helping us save shelter pets, one life at a time.
