UPDATE 6/27/16:  WE SINCERELY THANK EVERYONE WHO APPLIED FOR HOPE AND KENAI.  WE WERE FLOODED WITH APPLICATIONS, AND WE THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR INTEREST.  HOWEVER, PRIOR TO OUR COMMENCING THE REVIEW OF ANY OF THESE MANY WONDERFUL NEW APPLICATIONS, AN ALREADY-APPROVED ADOPTER (WHO ADOPTED FROM US BEFORE) COMMITTED TO ADOPTING BOTH HOPE & KENAI.  AGAIN, WE THANK YOU FOR CHOOSING RESCUE AND FOR TAKING THE TIME TO APPLY WITH US.

Meet strikingly handsome Kenai.  He came to us from KY, along with his gorgeous sister Hope.  These pups are as sweet as they are stunningly beautiful.  They love people, and their little tails never seem to stop wagging.  They love lots of hugs and kisses; they love romping in their fenced-in yard here; and they are an absolute delight.  Kenai has the most beautiful green eyes I have ever seen on a pup, and he is a little love-bug.  He is a happy, affectionate little man, and foster mom just loves him to pieces!! 

Currently (6/25), the pups are about 8 wks old.  Our best assessment (no guarantee) is that they are golden retriever/husky mixes; and we anticipate (though cannot guarantee) they will be on the upper end of medium in size when full grown.

If you have the time, willingness and ability to commit to Kenai – for his whole life – no matter what may lie ahead in yours, please register on www.safeatlast.net (click Register on the left-hand side of our homepage).  When you receive your password on your email account, then log back on to the website with your username and password to complete the SAFE AT LAST adoption application (click Forms/Applications on the left-hand side of our homepage).  Until we have your completed SAFE AT LAST application, we cannot consider you.  We do NOT accept the applications of other organizations (including Petfinder, Adopt a Pet, All Paws, etc).  So, thank you for your cooperation and understanding.  

Once we have your completed Safe At Last adoption application, we will email you to schedule a phone interview.  After that, we will call your references and perform a home assessment.  An adoption fee of $375 and a refundable $35 neuter deposit (required by NYS law) also apply.  We are an all-volunteer organization; we charge an adoption fee to cover our costs (medical, vetting, transport, food, etc) and to help other dogs in need.  100% of your adoption fee - every single cent - goes back to the rescue to pay for our costs and help other dogs, particularly those with special needs. 

Our animals are fostered in private homes; we do not have a centralized facility.  THEREFORE, YOU CANNOT MEET THE PUPS UNTIL YOU HAVE BEEN APPROVED FOR ADOPTION.  ALSO, we do not restrict adoptions by location, but ADOPTERS ARE REQUIRED TO COME TO THE FOSTER HOME (IN THIS CASE, MIDDLEBURGH, NY) TO COMPLETE THE ADOPTION.  WE DO NOT DELIVER OR SHIP OUR RESCUE ANIMALS.
