About Mason

  • Housetrained: No

Mason is a very special boy who is a Lab/Beagle Mix.  According to what our rescue friends in Ohio tell us, Mason is approximately 4 months of age, born June 20, 2016.  He currently weighs about 20#'s and we anticipate he will be medium in size when full grown.

Mason is a "special needs" pup in that he suffers from tremors.  Mason has been seen by our local vet, as well as specialists in Latham, NY.   After numerous tests which ruled out other potential causes, the specialty veterinarian has diagnosed Mason as having an under-developed cerebellum, which is what causes the tremors.  There is no treatment.  This means that Mason will always have tremors, but he will not be affected in any other way.  Mason requires no medication, and he is a happy boy.  We have been told by the specialist that Mason will live a long and healthy life like any other dog of his breed mix.

Mason does exceptionally well – and is also exceptionally happy – despite his tremors.  He does not know anything else, and he does terrific, both mentally/emotionally and physically.  He is a very smart young man, and gets up and down his foster parents’ 6 deck steps with no problem; but, of course, he should be watched to make sure.  He runs and plays in the backyard with all his foster brothers and sisters (as is reflected in the pictures), and he loves everyone he meets.  Exploring his surroundings is something he enjoys very much.  He likes chew toys and treats, just like any other puppy.  He is also a total love bug – he loves to sit in your lap and sometimes even watches TV!  A more lovable, sweetheart of a pup, you could not find.

When Mason is asleep or at rest, he is perfectly still.  He eats and drinks like any other normal pup and is doing very well with potty-training.  He already does most of his business outside, but will use newspapers in the evenings.

This very special young man will require a special family who can overlook the obvious shaking he does and see through to his wonderful personality and soul.

So, if you are truly serious about committing to Mason and making him a beloved member of your family for the rest of his life, please go to http://www.safeatlast.net/ Please register with us, and then log back on to fill out the online adoption application.  We will be in touch with you as soon as we receive your application.

Many thanks for wanting to open your heart and home to this special pup, as he surely is a ray of sunshine.
