Freckles came to us from our rescue friends in Ohio, along with her mother Francie (also available for adoption) and her brother Frankey (who has already gone to his wonderful forever home).  Our best assessment is that Freckles is a Dachshund/Beagle mix and is presently about 5 months old.  This little family had a rough start to life.  They were essentially thrown in a barn and left to their wits to survive.  Happily, they did survive, and they found their way to rescue and what we promise them will be a great life!!

Freckles is a beautiful little girl.  She has red/gold merle coloring, and her structure has the characteristics of both a Dachshund and the Beagle.  She is built like a Dachshund with little short legs and a long body, but she also has Beagle features.  And, she has stunningly beautiful eyes – one brown and one crystal blue.  It seems like she can peer right into your soul!!

In terms of temperament, Freckles is a little sweetheart.  She loves playing and exploring with her other foster siblings and loves cuddling in bed with her foster parents at night or sitting in their laps.  So, she definitely loves her humans.  Due to her background, however, Freckles can be somewhat shy/reserved upon first meeting new people or being in new surroundings;  it takes her just a little while to check things out to know she is safe – and then she will come over to you for loving.  Therefore, Freckles will need someone who understands that she went through a lot in her young life; all she needs is patience, understanding and lots of loving reassurance, and that lucky family will have, not only a beautiful girl, but one who will give back love many, many times over.

Our review process is very straightforward, but it does involve the phone interview, reference checks and a home assessment.  An adoption fee of $375, and a refundable $35 spay/neuter deposit (required by NYS law), also apply.
