About Toby

  • Status: Adopted!
  • Species: Dog
  • Current Age: 8 Years 3 Months (best estimate)

Toby is a 9-month-old, 20-lb Beagle/Aussie mix, possibly with some Jack
Russell.  Toby needs a new home because his current family is not able to fully provide for his needs due to their work commitments & time away from home.  Toby’s current family wants the very best for him, and, so, they are seeking a family that is a better match for Toby’s personality.  This is what Toby's family tells us about him:

Toby is full of energy and needs an active family.  He loves to run, play ball, and go for lots of walks.  He definitely needs exercise, as well as lots of one-on-one attention from his people. Given his energy requirements, Toby needs to go a home where there is a securely fenced-in yard and where his people will have time to devote to him.

In terms of compatibility with other animals, Toby is good with puppies and smaller dogs.  (He has not been around bigger dogs; so, we are not sure how he would be.)  He does not like cats or chickens; he has a prey drive and will go after them.

Regarding children, Toby is good with little kids, but since he's a high-energy guy, he can sometimes get overly excited around them.  So, he would do best in a home with older children (9 or older).

As for general personality, Toby loves to cuddle close to his people when he
settles down. He also loves his chew toys and loves to take baths!  Toby also knows basic commands like sit and lay down. (He is not particularly treat-motivated.)  Toby does have some security issues -- upon first meeting, Toby can be skiddish around men, & he will vocalize by barking or growling; he has better responses with women, and he also appears to bond better with women.  He simply needs some time to adjust and feel secure.

Toby will make a nice addition to a family that is situated to meet his needs.  He is a sweet little guy – but he absolutely needs a family that has time to spend with him throughout the day to provide him with the exercise he needs to burn his energy & the attention he needs to feel secure.

Finally, Toby is neutered & up-to-date on all his vaccines.  He is also currently on Nexgard for flea and tick preventative and Interceptor Plus for heartworm preventative.

If you are SERIOUSLY interested in Toby AND have the ability to provide for his needs (PLEASE, SERIOUS INQUIRIES ONLY), contact his caretaker, Shanna, at shannarhodes4@gmail.com. Shanna will get back in touch with you as soon as she possibly can.  Many thanks for your interest.
