About Sesame & Pepita

Meet Sesame & Pepita.

These two are from a litter of 8 Hound mix pups who came from a VERY bad situation, after being abandoned next to a dumpster in Georgia, nearly starved to death.  No puppy should have to go through that and as a result most of these guys needed varying degrees of rehabilitation both physically & mentally.

Pepita was by far the puppy in the worst condition physically, and being the runt she almost didn't make it.  Sesame also needed extra TLC to recover after being rescued.  As a result these two spent a lot of time together in their foster home and have developed a true bond.

Normally, I, their foster mom, don't necessarily encourage siblings to be adopted together; however in this case I would like to at least put it out there for these two to be adopted out TOGETHER.  Two puppies are without a doubt a bigger responsiblity; double the training, double the medical costs, double the time commitment.  These two though, they are such a pair.  Sure they bicker and tussel like most siblings but they truly find support in one another.  Particularly Sesame who really looks to other dogs for reassurance.

Sesame & Pepita are about 14 weeks old (~DOB 7/1/20).  Best guess for breed is a mixture of Hound type dogs (Coonhound/Beagle/Basset) and possibly some Labrador as well.  This litter widely varied in size but overall we believe (THOUGH CANNOT GUARANTEE) these two will be medium to large in size when full grown, maybe 40-45lbs & 50-65lbs respectively.  They are for the most part completely crate trained, and although not quite housebroken yet, they are well on their way.  Currently Pepita is 11lbs & Sesame is 17bs.

Pepita is more outgoing than her brother, because she needed more care even while in the GA shelter.  Sesame is a bit more of a shy pup and likes to observe the situation first to make sure it is safe.  But he is just a LOVE and the sweetest little guy.  They both get along with other dogs, cats, and even had some supervised interaction with chickens.

Physically they are completely recovered but will likely always bear some scars from their experience.  Behaviorally, these guys obvisouly have had a rough start due to the terrible situation they came from and they, like all puppies, need a good leader to introduce them to the world.  We will be adopting them out to calm, confident, dog experienced homes who can be good leaders and commit to the behavioral training.

Additional questions can be directed to their foster mom at swiffer109@yahoo.com.

If you have the time, willingness and ability to commit to Sesame & Pepita for life, please register with us on www.safeatlast.net.  When you receive your password, please log back on to our website to complete the SAFE AT LAST online adoption application.  Our review process is very straightforward but involves a phone interview, reference checks and a home assessment.  An adoption fee of $425, and a refundable $35 neuter deposit (required by NYS law), PER PUPPY also applies.

PLEASE BE ADVISED:  WE CANNOT CONSIDER YOU FOR ADOPTION UNTIL WE HAVE YOUR SAFE AT LAST APPLICATION, AND YOU CANNOT MEET THE PUPS UNTIL YOU HAVE BEEN APPROVED TO ADOPT.  So, please, if you are interested, submit the Safe at Last adoption application.  And although we DO NOT operate on a first come first serve basis, delay in submitting your application will put you behind other suitable homes who have applied.

Thank you for choosing rescue and for your interest in our rescue kids.
