Meet Vinnie!!  Vinnie is a 6-7 month old Lab/Hound/Shar Pei mix from South Carolina.  (BREED MIX IS A BEST ASSESSMENT ONLY.  NO GUARANTEE.)  He currently weighs about 35 lbs (but could use a few more groceries), and will probably fall into 50-60lb range.  He and is a very active, lovable fella who loves being outside running, exploring and playing with his sister Zelda as well as other members of the household.

Vinnie is very playful with other dogs and, while friendly, can be a little much for his teeny tiny puppy housemates.  He will do best with another social dog who can not only show him the ropes but also teach him appropriate and respectful dog skills.  He is fostered with 2 cats and would be fine living with a dog-savvy cat.

Vinnie is potty trained and goes outside on his own using the dog door.  His house manners are really quite good and he for the most part can be trusted to behave alone in an adjacent rooms of the house (in conjunction with the already provided typical puppy outlets of exercise & appropriate mental stimulation).

As most Shar Pei/Chow type dogs do, he will need a confident leader who will guide him through the correct choices in life.  As with all puppies, he would likely benefit greatly from a puppy/basic obedience type class and his new family should plan on attending such a program.

Vinnie is already neutered and he is up-to-date on his shots.  So, he is ready for his forever home.  This is a nice young fella, but he does still needs to work on learning all his manners, therefore we are seeking a home without young children (i.e., no homes with children under 8 yrs old).  We are looking for a family who can match Vinnie’s activity level and take him for walks & hikes and give him lots of play time.

If you have the time, willingness and ability to provide a loving home to Vinnie, please register on www.safeatlast.net.  When you receive your password, please log back on to our website to complete the Safe at Last online adoption application.  Once we have your application, if we feel your home is a good match, we will contact you by email to schedule the phone interview to commence the review process.  Our process is very straightforward but does involve the phone interview, reference checks and a home assessment.  An adoption fee of $425 also applies.

Please be advised that you cannot meet Vinnie until you have been approved to adopt.  We cannot consider you until you have submitted the completed Safe at Last online adoption application.  Delay in submitting your application will put you at a disadvantage to other potentially qualified applicants.

Finally, Vinnie is being fostered in the Cobleskill NY area (Schoharie County).  Approved adopters are required to go to the foster home to complete the adoption.  Adopters are also required to adhere to all COVID-19 safety protocols (including mask).
