Meet Gidget!  Gidget is a 7-8 yr old Maltese mix who is a very special little lady. Gidget is an exceptionally affectionate and animated girl, who loves getting tons of attention from her humans.  Gidget is also blind - she came to us with very serious corneal ulcers in both eyes, due to which she lost her vision.  While in foster care in NC, she was seen on a regular basis by our veterinarians there, as well as by a specialty vet (opthamologist).  Gidget ulcers have healed beautifully; but she will never regain her sight.  It honestly does not seem to bother her in the slightest -- she adjusts incredibly quickly to new surroundings, is very interactive, and, yes, happy!  

Due to her eye situation, Gidget does need medications -- three medications, two to three times a day.  It is also possible Gidget might have to have her eyes removed down the road - but that is extremely uncertain.  We mention it as a possibility only because we want to be totally upfront that Gidget will require follow up vet examinations & assessment.  For as long as she keeps her eyes, which could be for the rest of her life, she will need medications on a daily basis.  She is a really good girl about having those medications applied - no problems at all.

Little Gidget is a sweetheart with many happy years ahead of her, and she would love to share those years with a committed family who will love her to pieces and spend lots of wonderful snuggling and cuddling time with her.  She is most definitely special, and, so, we are looking for an equally special family who will cherish this sweetie for all of her days.

After you receive your password, PLEASE COMPLETE THE SAFE AT LAST ONLINE ADOPTION APPLICATION (by clicking Forms/Applications).  Once we have your application, IF WE FEEL YOU ARE A POTENTIALLY GOOD MATCH, we will contact you by e-mail to schedule the phone interview.  The review process is straightforward but involves the phone interview, reference checks and a home assessment.  AN ADOPTION FEE OF $425 (AND A REFUNDABLE $35 SPAY/NEUTER DEPOSIT, required by NYS law) ALSO APPLY.

Gidget is being fostered in Worcester, NY (Otsego County).  Approved adopters are required to go to the foster home to complete the adoption.  Adopters are also required to adhere to all COVID-19 safety protocols (including mask).
