Meet handsome Skippy!!  Skippy is a lovely boxer-mix boy who came to us from a NC shelter. This boy thinks he is a lap dog -- and we are looking for the perfect lap for him for all of his days!!!  

Skippy is doing great in foster care.  He is being fostered with two other adult male dogs, and he loves playing with the younger adult of the family.  We think Skippy would do great in a home with another dog to have a playmate.  However, he is such a people-oriented love-bug, we feel he'd also do well as a solo dog in the right home. 

Due to Skippy's size and energy level, we are seeking a home without young/tiny children (as he is big... and goofy.... and still needs to learn manners, like not jumping up...)  His foster parents are working on that, of course, but his adoptive family would need to be committed to continuing Skippy's training.  He is a happy boy and wanting to please... So, with good leadership, Skippy will shine!

Also, as to breed, our best assessment is that Skippy is a boxer mix -- but we can't guarantee that... and, there could also be some kind of scruffy terrier in there.  We just do NOT know... He is a mix and a sweetie; that's all we can say for sure!!  And, right now, he weighs in at about 60 lbs.

Skippy was neutered on 3/24 and arrived in his NY foster home on 4/11 with a pretty seamless transition, meeting his two male canine foster brothers and settling in nicely.  This sweet boy is ready for his forever home -- where his family will love him for the wonderful dog he is and nurture him to blossom to become the amazing dog he is meant to be!!

Best suited in a cat-free home. 


To pursue Skippy's adoption, please register on www.safeatlast.net.  When you receive your password, log back on with username and password to complete the SAFE AT LAST online adoption application.  Once we have that, we will contact you by email (CHECK YOUR SPAM) to schedule the phone interview to commence the review process.  Our process is straightforward but does involve the phone interview, reference checks and a home assessment.  An adoption fee of $425 also applies.

Skippy is being fostered in the Schenectady/Guilderland NY area.  Approved adopters are required to go to the foster home to meet Skippy & complete the adoption.  ALL COVID 19 PROTOCOLS MUST BE STRICTLY OBSERVED (INCLUDING MASK).

Finally, you cannot meet Skippy until you have been approved to adopt.  And, if you have not submitted the Safe at Last online adoption application, we cannot consider you.
