Carmel came to us from our rescue friends in SC, along with her brother Clarence (also available for adoption).  Carmel is about five months old, and we believe, THOUGH CANNOT GUARANTEE, that she is Carolina Dog mix.   She weighs about 25-30 lbs and has a beautiful red brindle coat/short in length.  We anticipate (though again CANNOT GUARANTEE) that she will be medium in size when full-grown.   

Carmel is a very active, smart, intelligent, sweet and loving girl.  She adores being outside running and playing, but also loves getting plenty of human attention from her foster parents.  She also gets along great with all types, ages and sizes of dogs and does well with cats.  She is also doing fabulously with her house-training, as she has had no accidents since being in her foster home -- way to go, good girl!!

Carmel is more beautiful than her pictures show (as it was hard to get her to stay still!!).  She is truly a great-natured young lady who will bring many years of happiness and love to her forever family.

To be considered to adopt Carmel, please register on www.safeatlast.net.  When you receive your password on your email account, log back on to complete the SAFE AT LAST online adoption application.  Once we have your application, IF WE FEEL YOU ARE A POTENTIALLY GOOD MATCH FOR CARMEL, WE WILL CONTACT YOU BY EMAIL TO SCHEDULE THE PHONE INTERVIEW TO COMMENCE THE REVIEW PROCESS -- SO PLEASE CHECK YOUR SPAM.  Our review process is very straightforward, but it does involve the phone interview, reference checks and a home assessment.  AN ADOPTION FEE OF $425, AND A $35 REFUNDABLE SPAY/NEUTER DEPOSIT (REQUIRED BY NYS LAW), ALSO APPLY.

If you do not submit the Safe at Last adoption application, we cannot consider you.  Delay in submitting your application will put you at a disadvantage to others who have applied.  And, you cannot meet our rescue animals until you have applied and been approved to adopt. 

Approved adopters are required to go to the foster home (in Worcester, NY - Otsego County) to complete the adoption.  Of course, all Covid-19 protocols must be observed, including mask.
