Sam is a very affectionate and playful 4-month-old terrier mix, weighing 27 pounds right now, with lots more growing to do.  He always wants to be close to you and loves cuddles and attention, but is just as comfortable lying at your feet, or on a bed close by.  He's great in his crate, sleeping quietly through the night, and lets you know when he's ready to go out in the morning.  We haven't had any accidents in the house yet; he does understand that business should be done outside, and he has gone to the door when he's had to go, but I believe he'll still need some training to let you know what he needs.  He was very excited to meet and play with my dog, and they became fast friends immediately, sharing and stealing toys from each other with no issues.  I have not had Sam long, but as he traveled to Vermont, each home he's stopped in has had nothing but wonderful things to say about his personality and demeanor.  I think Sam will prove to be an intelligent, confident boy with lots of love to give.

To be considered to adopt Sam, please register on www.safeatlast.net.  (Click Register on the left-hand side of our home page.)  When you receive your password on your email account, log back on to complete the SAFE AT LAST online adoption application.  (Click Forms/Applications on the left-hand side of our home page and select Adoption Application.)  Once we have your completed application, IF WE FEEL YOU ARE A POTENTIALLY GOOD MATCH FOR SAM, SAM's FOSTER MOM SUE WILL CONTACT YOU BY EMAIL TO SCHEDULE THE PHONE INTERVIEW TO COMMENCE THE REVIEW PROCESS -- SO PLEASE CHECK YOUR SPAM.  Our review process is very straightforward, but it does involve the phone interview, reference checks and a home assessment.  AN ADOPTION FEE OF $425 ALSO APPLIES.

If you do not submit the Safe at Last online adoption application, we cannot consider you.  Delay in submitting your application will put you at a disadvantage to others who have applied.  Also, you cannot meet Sam until you have applied and been approved to adopt. 

Approved adopters are required to go to the foster home (Manchester Center VT) to complete the adoption.  Covid-19 protocols must be observed, including mask.
