Meet Sampson, who came to us along with sister Delilah from our rescue friends in NC. Both of these little chi pups are happy, fun and feisty. They have been to our vet for a wellness checkup. Sampson got xrays because one of his back legs is not quite right. The diagnosis is that he is lacking a patella (knee cap) which is congenital and not a trauma-related injury. He gets around just fine though -- including wrestling with his sister Delilah. Of course, he will need to be monitored, but this is not a situation where he needs (or will need) an amputation. His leg is "different," as is his gait - but he uses his leg just fine; there is no pain or disability. Sampson and his sister Delilah are very bonded. Therefore, we are seeking a family who will adopt them together.
If you are interested in adopting, you need to register on www.safeatlast.net. (Go to www.safeatlast.net and click "Register" on the lefthand side of our homepage.) When you receive your password on your email account, log back on to complete the Safe at Last online adoption application. (Click "Forms/Applications" on the lefthand side of our homepage and select the Adoption Application.) Without your SAFE AT LAST ADOPTION application, we cannot consider you, and we will not respond to generic petfinder (check the box) inquiries. Our review process is straightforward, but involves the phone interview, reference checks and home assessment. An adoption fee of $425 (for each puppy), and a refundable $35 spay/neuter deposit (for each puppy) (required by NYS law), also apply.
Regrettably, we cannot adopt to Massachusetts residents due to the MA dog quarantine laws.
Adopters are required to go to the foster home to complete the adoption. All covid protocols must be observed, including mask.
Thank you for your interest.
