Meet Lana!  Lana came to us from a shelter in NC – she was extremely pregnant, very close to her time, and we got her into foster care.  There, Lana had 10 pups (one of whom did not survive).  Right now, Lana has motherhood duties (and is still in foster care in NC), but the weaning process is in progress; and we are putting the word out to find Lana a wonderful home of her own.

Lana is pretty much a pup herself.  Our best assessment is that she is barely one year old.  Lana is extremely people-oriented and very affectionate with her people – she wants to be where her people are.  At this juncture in her life, with all the hormonal surges that come with motherhood, she is selective about what dogs she likes.  Therefore, at this time, we cannot fully and fairly evaluate Lana relative to other dogs.  (We plan to do that when she comes to us after the pups are fully weaned and Lana’s days of motherhood are behind her.)  With that said, we do believe she would do extremely well as a solo pet in a household where her people will want to give her lots of love, attention and affection.  From what we have seen so far (and, as noted, this could be premature), we think that Lana would actually prefer to be the solo pet so that she can be the focus of her people's attention.  We believe that Lana will bond extremely strongly with her people.  All this girl wants is to be loved by her people.

Lana is about 45 lbs.  Our best assessment is that she is a collie/aussie/retriever mix (though we are not at all sure – that is a best guess only).  While we are not sure of her breed mix, we are sure she will provide lots of love to a family who will love her in return and give her the attention that she needs and deserves.

Without your SAFE AT LAST ADOPTION application, we cannot consider you, and we will not respond to generic petfinder (check the box) inquiries.  Once we have your application, IF WE FEEL YOU ARE A POTENTIALLY GOOD MATCH FOR LANA, we will reach out to you by email.  So, please check your spam.  Our review process is straightforward but involves the phone interview, reference checks and home assessment.  An adoption fee of $425, and a refundable $35 spay/neuter deposit (required by NYS law), also apply.  

Regrettably, we cannot adopt to Massachusetts residents due to the MA dog quarantine laws.
