Meet Bella
Bella is 1.5 years old (born June 2020). She is spayed and medically up-to-date on vaccines and care.
Unfortunately, Bella has a history of aggression type behavior towards other dogs. After having issues with smaller dogs, Bella's daycare assisted in rehoming her to her current home, with a pal from doggie daycare-a medium/large very passive, sweet, and mellow adult female Lab mix. Bella was also removed from the daycare environment. Bella was successful in this home for nearly a year, until just recently a fight occurred, causing injury to both dogs.
In the best interest of both dogs, Bella's current owners believe she would be best suited in a home as the solo pet, and have reached out to Safe At Last for assistance in finding an appropriate placement for her.
Non-negotiable, Bella will not be placed in a home with other dogs, nor expected to be dog social.
Cats unknown but likely not a good situation.
Older kids - Bella is high energy and knocks small kids over, also the possibility for possessive w/ toys (especially tennis balls - these are definitely a trigger for her). Bella does not have a problem relinquishing toys to her current owners - but toy possessiveness has lead to issues with other dogs - so we'd like to air on the side of caution, in the best interest of Bella, a child-free home would be best. Young adults may be considered.
**UPDATE - Owners had Bella behaviorally evaluated this morning (12/7) at Dog Logic. Bella is not at all aggressive to humans. She is dog reactive and dog aggressive with triggers - therefore she needs some serious training and structure. She's truly the sweetest girl and just wants love and affection from people.**
She is housebroken and has never had an accident in the house.
She can be home alone for up to 6 hours; however may chew pillows or anything with stuffing. Could also go in crate, she is crate trained and sleeps in it every night.
Great running partner; however is triggered/leash reactive to other dogs.
Otherwise she is the absolute sweetest dog. She wants to be the center of attention at all times and be constantly pet. Great cuddler and awesome in the car. She does know basic commands (sit, stay, down). Ideally she should have some additional one-on-one training with the intention of keeping her both physically and mentally satisfied. Our hope would be to find a owner committed to at least working with her leash reactivity, so that she can still experience the world, while remaining socially distant, but respectful to other dogs.
