RUTHIE HAS AN ADOPTION PENDING.

__________________________________________________________________

Meet Major’s Pups – Ruthie, Athena, Lady, Mocha & Sophie.  Currently (3/20/22), these babies are in foster care in NC.  They are 6 weeks old right now and will be ready for their forever homes in two weeks.  Our best assessment (NO GUARANTEE) is that they are cattle dog/beagle/possibly spaniel mixes and will be in the 40-lb range when full grown.  Again, this is a best assessment only; no guarantees.

These babies were born in the home of a local NC family where they received excellent care, and that family then entrusted the pups to us.  Momma Major is staying with this family, and we have her set for her spay shortly.  The pups will be arriving in NY on 3/26/22.

Here is what Tara, the pups’ NC foster mom, has to say about them:

“These girls are sugar and spice!!  They love everyone they meet and are instantly “all in” with sharing their love.  Not one of them is shy or withdrawn.

They play hard & sleep hard.  If you are looking for a pup that just wants to snuggle on the couch, this might not be the litter for you.  These girls are 100% going strong for all waking hours.  In my experience, if I pick one up to try to snuggle and watch a movie on the couch, she wants to be the one on the move!  They are active girls.

They play as intensely as they love.  Sometimes it requires intervention.  So, be mindful that this will require continued attention in their new home, especially as they get older with current animals in the home or young children.  They still have sharp puppy teeth and will grab on to everything – shoelaces, pant legs, fingers, ears and nose!!

One thing is certain – it is practically impossible to find cuter, more lovable pups.  These girls will need to be kept busy, but to know them is to love them.  You will be hard-pressed not to fall madly in love with each and every one of them.”

As for indiviudal personality:  Oh Ruthie, tiniest and most fiesty would be her. And add to that just a love bug when in your arms. Typical Ruthie,  snuggle with her and then put her down to play and if she was not ready you should expect an adorable little sassy bark back. She can keep up with her sisters and at times out smart them all!! She will engage any one of them and can also roll around in the puppy tunnel with a ball all by herself. And, as a bonus, she has a little wavy brown/red coat (gorgeous) and blue eyes.

Keep in mind, however, that adopting a puppy is more than falling in love with a picture.  Along with lots of love, these pups (like all pups) will need leadership from their humans and continued training to allow them to become good canine citizens.

For these girls, we are seeking active households with families who will commit to providing proper training, exercise, mental stimulation and one-on-one engagement.  We also prefer homes with a physically fenced yard (given the pups’ activity level), but we will evaluate applications on a case-by-case basis.  If you have the time, willingness and ability to commit to one of these pups for life, please register and apply with us.

To pursue adoption, please register on www.safeatlast.net.  (Click Register on the left-hand side of our homepage.)  When you receive your password on your email account, please log back on to our website to complete the SAFE AT LAST on-line adoption application.  (Click Forms/Application on the left-hand side of our homepage and select the Adoption Application.) Once we have your completed application, if we feel you are a good match, we will contact you by email to schedule the phone interview to commence the review process.  (So, please check your SPAM.)  Our process is straightforward but involves the phone interview, reference checks and a home assessment.  An adoption fee of $450, and a refundable $35 spay/neuter deposit, also apply.

YOU CANNOT MEET THE PUPS UNTIL YOU HAVE BEEN APPROVED TO ADOPT.  WE CANNOT CONSIDER YOU UNTIL YOU HAVE SUBMITTED THE FULLY FILLED OUT SAFE AT LAST ON-LINE ADOPTION APPLICATION.  Delay in submitting your application will put you behind other potentially suitable applicants.  Ultimately, approved adopters will be required to pick the pups up (after arrival in NY) in Schoharie County.

Thank you for your interest in these sweet, beautiful pups!
