Isabella is one of Nana’s pup.  She is a Coonhound mix, who currently weighs approximately 13 lbs at about 3.5 months of age (born 12/30/21). 

As you can see from her pictures, Isabella suffered a severe trauma to her left eye and face.  She is blind in her left eye as a result of that injury.  She had sustained a fracture to her cheekbone as well, but that has healed beautifully and there is no other impairment -- her teeth remain perfectly aligned.  After discussion with our vet after today's checkup (4/7/22), Isabella is fully healed and is medically cleared to go to her forever home.  

Despite having sustained these injuries, Isabella is a happy, healthy puppy.  She loves to chew on cow hooves – and is currently into the “teething/mouthing” phase of puppyhood.  So, of course, as with any puppy, the mouthing/human nibbling behavior will require continued correction.  Additionally, due to the blindness on her left side, she can be a little nippy if approached from that side – so this is something her forever family will need to be aware of and work on with her.

Isabella loves playing with the other dogs in her foster home, as well as one of the cats there.  She likes to explore the outdoors and listen to all the new sounds of Spring.  She is a typical Hound with her nose in the air & to the ground, and she has quite the little bark when she is playing or excited.  Isabella also enjoys riding in the car.  When she is tired, she likes to curl up and snuggle on the sofa with her doggie pals and her people.

We feel it is best if Isabella is not placed in a home with toddlers. Older/dog-savvy kids would be fine.  We also prefer a physically fenced yard for Isabella (due to her nose-to-the-ground hound tendencies), but we will evaluate that on a case-by-case basis.    

Despite her partial blindness, Isabella is a typical puppy.  She is one of the most loveable pups you will ever meet, and we are seeking a family who will give her the wonderful life she deserves - for the right reasons – and not because they feel sorry for her being blind in the one eye.  Isabella is just fine, and we want a family who will want her for who she is.
