Meet Saasha!
She is 8 months old (born 9/6/21).
Saasha finds herself looking for her forever home through zero fault of her own (owner moving with breed specific restrictions).
Saasha is incredibly sweet and has been well cared for in her life. That being said, we are looking for a home with experience and prepared to fulfill a working breed dog both physically AND mentally.
Saasha is dog social - previously living with a senior Min Pin, and currently fostered with a med/large male mixed breed. She has shown to be playful but also respectful with her canine friends.
Previous owner states unsure with cats - she may be inclined to chase, BUT we have been to the pet store, "met" through the glass all the critters and adoptable cats - no inappropriate interest or concerning reactions. Saasha tends to be more submissive when confronted by other dogs, so we believe she may be able to live with dog-savvy cats, with no chasing and space rules.
Saasha is good with respectful kids, although typical for a young, large, adolescent dog, she jumps when excited and may knock a small human over in exuberant play.
Saasha is crate trained. In her trasition to a different home/schedule, she has had a few accidents, but per her previous owner she is housebroken, and will likely just need some understanding when adjusting to her new forever home. She is used to a fenced in yard but also adjusting to more leashed activities in her foster home.
Saasha is a delightful girl -- she is also smart and very active. Due to her breed, size and energy level, we are seeking an active, experienced, dog-savvy family. Ideally, we are seeking a home with another canine family member, as Saasha loves to play with other dogs, and having a canine buddy gives her an outlet for her puppy energy. Due to her energy level, we also have a preference for a home with a physically fenced yard - as that will allow her to run and play and romp safely. We will consider families with other situations, but demonstrating the ability to meet Saasha's physical and mental needs will be a must. As for her medical, at the advice of Saasha's previous vet, as well as Safe At Last's vet, since Saasha is a large purebred dog, we would like to allow her to reach more mature growth level prior to spaying (after her first heat cycle) - which has shown to potentially decrease orthopedic and soft tissue issues in the future. This will also be at the discretion of the vet with her adopters.
Saasha is current on rabies, distemper/parvovirus, and will be receiving a bordetella vaccine. She also is current on flea/tick/and heartworm preventive.
If you are interested, please register on www.safeatlast.net. When you receive your password, log back on to complete the Safe at Last online adoption application. IF WE FEEL YOU ARE A POTENTIALLY GOOD MATCH, WE WILL CONTACT YOU BY EMAIL - SO PLEASE CHECK YOUR SPAM. Saasha is being fostered in a private home - WITHOUT YOUR APPLICATION, WE CANNOT CONSIDER YOU, and you cannot meet Saasha until you have applied and been approved. Adopters are required to visit foster home to complete adoption (Schoharie/Albany County NY)
Our review process is very straightforward - it involves a phone interview, reference checks and a home assessment. An adoption fee of $450, and a refundable $35 spay/neuter deposit (required by NYS law), also apply.
If you are seriously interested, YOU NEED TO APPLY. Also, a follow-up email to info@safeatlast.net is strongly recommended.
(We will cannot respond to generic "check the box" "Is she available" petfinder inquiries.)
Thank you for your interest in this beautiful girl, both inside and out!
