**ADOPTION PENDING**
Meet Daffodil! This beautiful mostly white girl & her more golden sister were rescued from a high kill SC shelter and have arrived in NY to find their forever family! These beauties are about 17 weeks old (born ~4/27/22). Best guess is Retriever mixes, maybe some Shepherd? maybe a bit of Chow/Shar Pei? We expect but cannot guarantee that they will be medium to large size adult dogs (~55-65lbs). These ladies are learning what it's like to have a stable living situation after just arriving to the shelter 8/12, and NY 8/22. While they can be a bit uncertain in new 'scary' situations, that won't last long - they LOVE and CRAVE human attention, are so so sweet, and truly love snuggling on the couch. Crate training is still a work in progress - apartment living might not be the best for these girls yet as they still cry when left alone - unless you have understanding neighbors. Their foster families are working on developing good puppy habits, learning to settle, and creating slightly more independent young ladies. When the girls are with their people they settle beautifully. And while not perfect, general housetraining is going pretty well.
Daffodil & Sunflower are both fostered with other dogs and cats.
The girls are not overly mouthy, but they do jump some with sharp nails - a consideration with small kids and appropriate expectations as they continue their training.
Keep in mind that adopting a puppy is more than falling in love with a picture. Along with lots of love, these pups (like all pups) will need leadership from their humans and continued training to allow them to become good canine citizens. As of 8/22, Sunflower weighs 20lbs & Daffodil 23lbs. They are current on age appropriate vaccines, microchipped, dewormed, & current on flea/tick/heartworm preventative.
To pursue adoption, please register on www.safeatlast.net. (Click Register on the left-hand side of our homepage.) When you receive your password on your email account, please log back on to our website to complete the SAFE AT LAST on-line adoption application. (Click Forms/Application on the left-hand side of our homepage and select the Adoption Application.) Once we have your completed application, if we feel you are a good match, we will contact you by email to schedule the phone interview to commence the review process. (So, please check your SPAM.) Our process is straightforward but involves the phone interview, reference checks and a home assessment. An adoption fee of $450, and a refundable $35 spay/neuter deposit, also apply.
YOU CANNOT MEET THE PUPS UNTIL YOU HAVE BEEN APPROVED TO ADOPT. WE CANNOT CONSIDER YOU UNTIL YOU HAVE SUBMITTED THE FULLY FILLED OUT SAFE AT LAST ON-LINE ADOPTION APPLICATION. Delay in submitting your application will put you behind other potentially suitable applicants. Ultimately, approved adopters will be required to pick the pups up in Schoharie County.
Thank you for your interest in these sweet, beautiful pups!
If you are seriously interested, YOU NEED TO APPLY. Also, a follow-up email to their foster mom swiffer109@yahoo.com, is strongly recommended.
(Sorry we cannot respond to generic "check the box" "Is she available" petfinder inquiries.)
