Meet Eli, who recently joined our rescue family.  This sweet little guy is about 4 months old and should be 15-18 lbs (we are working on that).  Our best assessment (NO GUARANTEE) is that Eli is a poodle/schnauzer mix.  We believe he will be on the lower end of medium in size when fully grown (AGAIN, NO GUARANTEE).

As for his personality, Eli is a love, and there are no strangers in his world. His tail begins to wag the minute he sees a human and a sweet paw and kisses are quick to follow.  He likes his doggie friends too, and once he settles in and completes his intros it is all play and then off for a quick nap. 

His favorite thing -- toys toys toys.  Any shape, any color, any texture works for this little man; and toss his toys to him and you can watch him bounce after them. And can we talk about his bounce?? It's like he is part bunny.  He hops everywhere he goes, and it just makes his whole demeanor so happy.  Truly, the one word we would use to describe Eli is happy. 

Eli also sleeps in his crate, and his potty training is coming along nicely. He is not dependent on another dog (though he enjoys playing with other canines) – so we believe he would do fine in a solo or multiple dog home.  Additionally, given his sweet demeanor, children of an appropriate age would be fine.  Eli is up-to-date on core vaccines and neutered; so, he is all ready for his forever home.

To pursue adoption, please register on www.safeatlast.net.  (Click Register on the left-hand side of our homepage.)  When you receive your password on your email account, please log back on to our website to complete the SAFE AT LAST on-line adoption application.  (Click Forms/Application on the left-hand side of our homepage and select the Adoption Application.) Once we have your completed application, if we feel you are a good match, we will contact you by email. (So, please check your SPAM.)  Our process is straightforward but involves a phone interview, reference checks and a home assessment.  An adoption fee of $450 applies.

YOU CANNOT MEET ELI UNTIL YOU HAVE BEEN APPROVED TO ADOPT.  WE CANNOT CONSIDER YOU UNTIL YOU HAVE SUBMITTED THE FULLY FILLED OUT SAFE AT LAST ON-LINE ADOPTION APPLICATION.  Delay in submitting your application will put you behind other potentially suitable applicants.  Ultimately, approved adopters will be required to go to the foster home to complete the adoption (Capital District area).
