Meet Millie, who just arrived in NY this past weekend (11/12/22).

Our best assessment (NO GUARANTEE) is that Millie is a Aussie/Spaniel/Beagle? mix, petite at about 27lbs, currently around 7 months old. She is spayed and up-to-date on all core vaccines, flea/tick preventative and heartworm preventative. So, this sweet girl is seeking her forever family!

At this time, Millie is still settling in at her foster home.  She love, love, loves toys and to play - and she is VERY smart.

Still in the rescue transition, Millie can be a little shy and uncertain in new situations, but with guidance from her foster mom, Millie comes out of her shell with just a bit of positivity.  She also follows the lead of her canine foster siblings and looks to them for confidence and direction.  Therefore, we think that Millie would benefit from having a social canine family member who could show Millie the ropes and help her be more certain in unfamilar situations.

Millie's initial thoughts of cats were that they are absoltely terrifying, so much so she struggled to pass by them - but with 3 dog-savvy cats in her foster home, Millie is learning how to live with kitties. 

At this time, we would suggest a home with older (10yrs+), dog-savvy kids, as Millie learns how to trust and deal with potentially 'scary' situations.

Again, Millie is spayed, microchipped, up-to-date on core vaccines, dewormed, & current on flea/tick/heartworm preventative.

To pursue adoption, please register on www.safeatlast.net.  (Click Register on the left-hand side of our homepage.)  When you receive your password on your email account, please log back on to our website to complete the SAFE AT LAST on-line adoption application.  (Click Forms/Application on the left-hand side of our homepage and select the Adoption Application.) Once we have your completed application, if we feel you are a good match, we will contact you by email (So, please check your SPAM.)  Our process is straightforward but involves a phone interview, reference checks and a home assessment.  An adoption fee of $450 applies.

YOU CANNOT MEET Millie UNTIL YOU HAVE BEEN APPROVED TO ADOPT.  WE CANNOT CONSIDER YOU UNTIL YOU HAVE SUBMITTED THE FULLY FILLED OUT SAFE AT LAST ON-LINE ADOPTION APPLICATION.  Delay in submitting your application will put you behind other potentially suitable applicants.  Ultimately, approved adopters will be required to go to the foster home to complete the adoption (in Schoharie or Albany County).
