Meet Rizzo who is scheduled to arrive in NY 12/10!

Rizzo is about 11 weeks old (born ~9/18/22). She is a scruffy Terrier mix, currently about 15lbs. We believe she will be a medium size adult dog (BEST ASSESSMENT ONLY, NO GUARANTEE).

The word to describe Rizzo is fun. She can play by herself, with you or the resident dogs. Tossing a toy and rolling around in a dog bed make her so happy.

She can be very animated and will have the cutest conversations. And those little eyebrows pull it all together like a little person.

She sleeps through the night in her crate and can be a bit lazy in the morning. If puppies could drink coffee she would be asking for one!! Nonetheless, we are always met with a wiggle and stretch. And, as part of her wake up routine, climbing back on to the couch for a bit with her Uncle Walter (the big hound in her current foster home) is her perfect morning.

Potty training is a work in progress, but she is smart, and if pottying outside comes with a treat she will work hard at it.

Evenings are filled with finishing up dinner and then zoomies in the yard, redistributing her toys from bed to bed and then snuggling for a Hallmark movie.

If you are looking for a sweet pup with personality, Rizzo is your girl!!

Rizzo is up-to-date on core vaccines, flea-tick preventative and heartworm preventative. She is therefore all ready for a great home of her own. Could that be you?

*Keep in mind that adopting a puppy is more than falling in love with a picture. Along with lots of love, these pups (like all pups) will need leadership from their humans and continued training to allow them to become good canine citizens.*

To pursue adoption, please register on www.safeatlast.net. (Click Register on the left-hand side of our homepage.) When you receive your password on your email account, please log back on to our website to complete the SAFE AT LAST on-line adoption application. (Click Forms/Application on the left-hand side of our homepage and select the Adoption Application.) Once we have your completed application, if we feel you are a good match, we will contact you by email (So, please check your SPAM.) Our process is straightforward but involves a phone interview, reference checks and a home assessment. An adoption fee of $450, and a refundable $35 spay/neuter deposit, also apply.

YOU CANNOT MEET Rizzo UNTIL YOU HAVE BEEN APPROVED TO ADOPT. WE CANNOT CONSIDER YOU UNTIL YOU HAVE SUBMITTED THE FULLY FILLED OUT SAFE AT LAST ON-LINE ADOPTION APPLICATION. Delay in submitting your application will put you behind other potentially suitable applicants. Ultimately, approved adopters will be required to go to the foster home to complete the adoption (in Schoharie or Albany County).
