MEET Zuzu!  This girl is stunning!!  She's a working type dog looking for a hybrid pet quality home, with lots of fun outdoor activities!

Zuzu just turned 1 year old.  Originally rescued from a high-kill southern shelter; we believe she is a Great Pyrenees/Anatolian Shepherd mix.  Currently she weights about 90lbs and aside from filling out a bit more, she is just about full grown.

As stated, this girl IS a house dog; however she will thrive with the opportunity to spend time with her people and 'helping' with whatever is going on that day in her family's life!  If you're gardening, shoveling snow, or just going for a walk, Zuzu wants to be involved!

Zuzu is fostered with multiple other dogs, both male and female, a variety of sizes - she does very well with a proper intro.  Being a guardian type dog, she sometimes can exhibit reactivity towards unknown 'suspicious' dogs while on leash - but Zuzu participates in a local training program, and practices her dog neutrality daily, around dozens of dogs - she just needs an owner to maintain her skills.

On that note, Zuzu would potentially be a great therapy dog candidate, following a class and certification with her new family.  She is great with kids, and does an ok job of not letting her size become too much for small children.

Zuzu is fostered with an indoor cat - she has not had any specific livestock exposure, but we do believe she could continue her exposure training and be successfully integrated to 'help' do chores on a hobby farm!

Zuzu is housebroken - she crates up when left alone - but would really love an owner who could spend a lot of time with her rather than being left home alone.  The more time Zuzu can spend with her family, the happier she is - and as a bonus she LOVES car rides!  Zuzu also has some basic obedience skills started!

Fenced yard not required; however if she had a fenced yard, it would ideally need a secure stockage type fence as she's a large athletic dog.

She's truly wonderful and very balanced for such a young dog.  True to her breed, loyal, and is looking for a forever family to return the devotion back to her.  If you feel you can provide that for Zu, we would love to hear from you!

Zuzu's adoption fee is $150 - and this includes spay, rabies vaccine, distemper vaccine, bordetella vaccine, dewormer (if needed), flea treatment (if needed), heartworm/lyme test, & microchip!

**If you are seriously interested, YOU NEED TO APPLY (instructions below).  Also, a follow-up email to Zuzu's foster mom, momokraemer10@gmail.com, is strongly recommended.

To fill out an application please register on www.safeatlast.net.  When you receive your password, log back on to complete the Safe at Last online adoption application.  IF WE FEEL YOU ARE A POTENTIALLY GOOD MATCH, WE WILL CONTACT YOU BY EMAIL - SO PLEASE CHECK YOUR SPAM.  Zuzu is being fostered in a private home - WITHOUT YOUR APPLICATION, WE CANNOT CONSIDER YOU, and you cannot meet Zuzu until you have applied and been approved.  Adopters are required to visit foster home to complete adoption (Schoharie County, NY).

Our review process is very straightforward - it involves an interview, reference checks and a home assessment.

(We will cannot respond to generic "check the box" "Is she available" petfinder inquiries.)
