Meet Gilbert – an adorable “low rider”, complete with huge paws and a long wiggly body, as well as a scruffy face for schmooches!! And, don't let those short legs fool you; give him someone to play with and let the zoomies start!

Speaking of playmates, he loves his foster sibling - following and trying to snuggle or just be close. He would really like a canine companion in his new home and maybe have the ability for daycare or other outlets for playtime with doggie friends.  

And, as for snuggling, he loves that too. He takes a minute to check you out but then your lap is the best spot to get all the best pats and extra loving.  (Our best assessment, NO GUARANTEE, is that Gilbert is a 5-month old terrier mix who will be medium in size when full grown.)

As for the basics-

Crates are ok, but sleeping with his foster sibling is so much better.

Gilbert is smart but not necessarily food motivated. 

And potty training is going so well -- you will even get a whiny boy if he needs to go out. 

All he needs now if a forever family of his own who will love him for all of his days.

Gilbert is already neutered, and he is up to date on core vaccines, flea/tick preventative and heartworm preventative.  So, he is all ready for a forever family of his own. Could that be you??

To pursue adoption, please register on www.safeatlast.net.  (Click Register on the left-hand side of our homepage.)  When you receive your password on your email account, please log back on to our website to complete the SAFE AT LAST on-line adoption application.  (Click Forms/Application on the left-hand side of our homepage and select the Adoption Application.) Once we have your completed application, if we feel you are a good match, we will contact you by email to commence the review process. (So, please check your SPAM.)  Our process is straightforward but involves a phone interview, reference checks and a home assessment.  An adoption fee of $450 applies.

YOU CANNOT MEET GILBERT UNTIL YOU HAVE BEEN APPROVED TO ADOPT.  WE CANNOT CONSIDER YOU UNTIL YOU HAVE SUBMITTED THE FULLY FILLED OUT SAFE AT LAST ON-LINE ADOPTION APPLICATION.  Delay in submitting your application will put you behind other potentially suitable applicants.  Ultimately, approved adopters will be required to go to the foster home to complete the adoption (in the Schoharie/Albany County area).
