Meet Goose!
Goose has been with us for several months now going through an amazing transformation. He started out in a rural shelter on the euthanasia list because he had problems with his eyes. Fast forward to today and after a successful surgery for entropion in both eyes, he is happy and pain free.
This boy loves people, and meeting everyone is a priority. He is the President of the Safe at Last welcome committee!!!
All of his vet visits were like social hour, and his disposition has repeatedly been described as "perfect" by the staff.
Goose gets along with other dogs, is good on walks as long as you leave time for all those meet and greets that come his way, and is potty trained.
Spending time with his foster mom, and that means being very close, is one of his favorite things to do.
Our best guess (no guarantee), based in his brothers DNA (see photo), is a Pyrenees mix. Born ~3/4/24 (best assessment, no guarantee), Goose is now 5 months old, and ~60lbs.
We did hold off on neutering him based on his size, as large breed dogs take longer to physically mature, and we did not want to negatively impact his development; but consult with your own personal vet about what that timeline will look like for neuter if you feel this lovely guy is the right one for you!
Goose is current on core vaccines, heartworm/flea/tick preventative, dewormed, & microchipped!

**If you are interested, YOU NEED TO APPLY. Also, a follow-up email to info@safeatlast.net is strongly recommended.
To pursue adoption, please register on www.safeatlast.net. (Click Register on the left-hand side of our homepage.) When you receive your password on your email account, please log back on to our website to complete the SAFE AT LAST on-line adoption application. (Click Forms/Application on the left-hand side of our homepage and select the Adoption Application.) Once we have your completed application, if we feel you are a good match, we will contact you by email. (So, please check your SPAM.) Our process is straightforward but involves a phone interview, reference checks and a home assessment. An adoption fee of $450, and a refundable $35 spay/neuter deposit (required by NYS law), apply.
YOU CANNOT MEET OUR RESCUE ANIMALS UNTIL YOU HAVE BEEN APPROVED TO ADOPT. WE CANNOT CONSIDER YOU UNTIL YOU HAVE SUBMITTED THE FULLY FILLED OUT SAFE AT LAST ON-LINE ADOPTION APPLICATION. Delay in submitting your application will put you behind other potentially suitable applicants. Ultimately, approved adopters will be required to complete an adoption in Schoharie/Albany County.
Thank you for your interest.
(Sorry we will not respond to generic "check the box," "Is he available," "Can you give me more information" inquiries.)
