Meet the newest addition to our Safe At Last family -- gorgeous Anchor.
Anchor is a 7.5 month old Aussie mix, and we think the mix might include retriever, but we cannot be sure. Anchor was one of our pups at Safe At Last in the Fall of 2013, and he has come back to us and is looking for a great family.
Here is what his former family has to say about him: "Anchor is both house and crate trained. He is a very observant boy noticing anything going on around him and making sense of it all, clearly a thinker, and he took to basic obedience training quickly. He is also incredibly sweet and people-oriented, instantly connecting to whoever is his person. He loves attention but is also independent and happy to head out to check out the action. Anchor is also very athletic and loves to race, chase and play frisbee or ball. He would make a great running or hiking partner. Once inside he does settle down, usually right next to his person. Anchor is now about 40 pounds. He is neutered and up-to-date on all his shots. He was relinquished to Safe At Last by a family who could not meet his needs properly."
As reported by Anchor's former family, he is a great dog. He is playful (LOVES the snow), happy, attentive, and loving. He is UTD on all shots -- rabies, parvo/distemper, lyme, lepto and bordatella. He is current on topicals for flea/tick prevention, as well as his meds for heartworm prevention. He is also micro-chipped and neutered. Additionally, Anchor is housetrained and crate-trained. He also knows basic commands (sit, down, off, stay), as he has had training at Petco. Anchor is a happy, social young man who is very people-oriented. Due to his breed mix, he will definitely need regular exercise to keep him happy.
We are looking for a committed, loving forever family for Anchor who can properly provide for his needs. We believe that Anchor would do equally well either as an only dog or with a playful canine, so long as the other dog in the family is not super-dominant. As a 7-month old adolescent, Anchor is stretching his wings, exploring his world, and finding his place in it. A family who can appreciate that & guide this sweet adolescent boy as he matures will, indeed, be rewarded with many, many years of having a positively fabulous life-long companion.
If you are willing to commit to Anchor FOR HIS WHOLE LIFE, NO MATTER WHAT MAY LIE AHEAD IN YOURS, please register on our website (ww.safeatlast.net) and then log back on to complete the online adoption application (under Forms/Applications on the left-hand side of our homepage). Once we have your application, a volunteer will be in touch to work with your through our review process.
Our process is straightforward, but does involve a phone interview, reference checks, and a home assessment. An adoption fee of $250 also applies.
If you have questions along the way or need assistance, please contact us at info@safeatlast.net.
Thank you for helping us save shelter pets, one life at a time.
