Meet Tess, who hales from KY, along with her son Tanner (also featured on our website).  These fur-kids are Toy Fox Terrier mixes. Tess is approximately 2 1/2 years old, and  Tanner is about 4 months old.  Tess weighs about 9 lbs, and currently Tanner is about 5 lbs.  

When Tess and Tanner first arrived at our rescue, they were both a little insecure; but they are improving wonderfully as they experience new things.  They love to run and play, and they get along well with the other foster dogs and permanent dogs in their foster home.  Tess does exhibit some alpha tendencies, and she can be protective of her son Tanner (what mom wouldn't??).  She and Tanner are sweet, affectionate & loving.  They also very much enjoy the company of other dogs and are used to playing with dogs ranging from 10 lbs to 35 lbs. 

In terms of potty training, Tess goes outside using a doggie door. Tanner still uses pee pads in the house during the night, but loves to go outside with everyone else when the weather isn't bad.

Tess is HW negative, and both she and Tanner are up-to-date on their shots.  Tess is scheduled to be spayed on Friday, 5/9.  so, she will be ready for her forever home shortly after her procedure.

We are looking for wonderful families for Tess and Tanner.  If someone were interested in both, we'd be thrilled, as they are close with one another; however, dual adoption is not a necessity, as each could be adopted out separately.  Due to the small size of these babies, we are seeking homes that will provide a safe environment which accounts for their small stature.  Tess and Tanner are a lovely little pair; and either or both would make a great addition to the right family.

Our process is very straightforward, but does involve a phone interview, reference checks and a home assessment.  An adoption fee of $250 and a refundable $35 spay deposit (required by NYS law) also apply.
