About Hanzel

  • Status: Adopted!
  • Species: Dog
  • Color: tri-color
  • Current Age: 9 Years 5 Months (best estimate)
Hanzel and Gretyl are gorgeous Basset Hound siblings that were born 11/26/14 and were raised together until they were given up by their owners.  These two cuties have the sweetest, gentlest personalities you could imagine.  They are true love bugs and are so very affectionate that it is difficult for us to fathom why they were given up.
They are about 18lbs right now and are beautiful souls inside and out.  They are easy-going, are already going outside to potty using a doggie door, and have been an absolute pleasure to have with us.  Their coats are beautiful, and their ears are like velvet.  They have fit right in with their other foster brothers and sisters and love going outside and exploring the brush piles and running around the trees.
It would be wonderful if these two gentle pups could go to the same forever home, as they have grown up together and our great pals who love each other very much.  However, we will place them separately if need be...  These two babies are beyond special and will reward their family with unquestionable love and loyalty.

If you are interested in adopting, please go to www.safeatlast.net to register.  Then please log back on with your username and password to complete an online adoption application.  We will be in touch by email once we have your application to set up a phone interview with you and commence the review process.  Our process is very straightforward, but it does involve a phone interview, reference checks and a home assessment.  An adoption fee of $375 applies to each pup, as well as a refundable $35 spay/neuter deposit (required by NYS law).  However, if you are interested in welcoming both pups into your home, we will happily reduce the adoption fee, and we would love to discuss that with you.

Please understand that because these pups are being fostered in a private home and we do not have a centralized facility, you must apply and be approved for adoption prior to meeting them.

Thank you for your interest in these wonderful puppies.
