Meet Odin, who recently arrived from Ohio, along with siblings Bo, Gisa, Brenna, Alivia and Asa. The momma of these pups is a Norwegian Elkhound/Schipperke mix, & we think different dads were involved in producing these babies. Pups Asa, Alivia and Brenna have short little legs and long bodies, like a Dachshund. Pups Gisa and Bo have regular length legs; so, no doxie there. Puppy Odin is somewhere in between – not as short-legged as his doxie mix sisters, but shorter than Bo and Gisa. Currently (June 23), these pups are about 8 weeks old & weigh between 7 and 10 lbs, with Bo, Gisa and Odin being larger than the other three girls. Our best assessment is that these pups will be on the low to mid range of medium in size when full grown (~30-45 lbs).
While we are not certain of their heritage, we are sure that these babies are beautiful, inside and out. They have soft medium-length coats, & the five dark-colored pups have gorgeous chocolate highlights/undertones. They are also total sweetie-pies – social, people-oriented, happy & playful – and as cute as can be when they come scampering over to you for loving.
As for Odin, foster mom just loves this sweet boy. Odin is a total love-bug, but he is not as “in your face” about it as brother Bo. When all the pups clamor for attention, Odin will too, at first. But, then he’ll sit back and wait until the competition subsides – sometimes it almost seems like he’s pouting a bit when showing his independent side!! But, truly, this pup loves people attention & just nestles into you when you pick him up for hugs and kisses. Of course, he also loves to play – with toys and his siblings; and he enjoys exploring in the yard too. Odin, like all his siblings, is a happy, people-oriented, playful, loving puppy who will flourish in a home where he is included as a member of the family.
If you have the time, willingness and ability to commit to Odin – for his whole life, no matter what may lie ahead in yours – please register on www.safeatlast.net (click Register on the left hand side of the home page). When you receive your password on your email account, please log back on to the website with your username and password to complete the online adoption application (click Forms/Applications on the left hand side of the home page). Once we have your completed application, we will email you to schedule the phone interview to commence the review process. Our process is very straightforward, but it does involve the phone interview, reference checks & a home assessment. An adoption fee of $375, and a refundable $35 spay/neuter deposit (required by NYS law), also apply. If, after you've submitted your application you have any questions, please email us at info@safeatlast.net.
PLEASE UNDERSTAND THAT YOU CANNOT MEET THE PUPS UNTIL YOU HAVE BEEN APPROVED FOR ADOPTION, & YOU CANNOT BE CONSIDERED FOR ADOPTION UNTIL YOU HAVE COMPLETED AN ONLINE ADOPTION APPLICATION.
Also, while we do allow out-of-area adoptions & welcome your interest, all approved adopters are required to come to the foster home (in this case, Fultonham, NY) to complete the adoption. We do not deliver or ship our rescue pups.
Thank you for your interest in our rescue babies & for helping us save shelter pets, one life at a time.
