  • Color: black & tan & white
  • Current Age: 9 Years 5 Months (best estimate)

Meet Maxx, who came to us from KY along with siblings Mercedes, Axel and August.  These gorgeous little cuties currently (8/27) weigh in between 5 and 6 lbs, & we expect they will be small (under 20 lbs) when full grown.  Our best assessment is that they are a mix of Dachshund and some type of toy spaniel, likely either Cavalier King Charles or English Toy Spaniel.  They all have medium-length silky soft fluffy coats and are just beautiful.

They are also lovely-tempered pups – sweet, happy, affectionate, & outgoing.  They love being picked up, snuggled, hugged and kissed.  Of course, they also love to play and are enjoying running around in the fenced yard at their foster home.  They also know how to use a doggie door & are doing well with learning to go up and down stairs.

Regarding individual personality, Maxx is a love-bug.  He is an active, affectionate little man who loves to play and also loves attention.  He is a beautiful boy with handsome rich caramel-colored markings on his legs & a striking white blaze on his chest.  Maxx is a great little pup, inside and out, and would love to be loved by a family of his very own.

Little Mercedes, the only girl in this litter, is a total sweetheart.  She can hold her own with her brothers & loves to play and romp with them.   But what she seems to love most of all is lots of loving.  Mercedes is truly a cuddle-bug who loves to be picked up, held and loved on.  She also loves to give & get kisses (as do all these pups).  She is a beautiful, sweet puppy who has tons of love to give & can’t wait to share that love with her forever family.

Axel is a doll-baby & such an affectionate little man.  Sometimes, he will forego his food bowl and run over to foster mommy for extra loving when all the pups are having their meals.  Axel, like his brother Maxx, has gorgeous tan markings on his dark silky soft coat.  He is a handsome, sweet, playful little guy who is sure to bring years and years of love and joy to his forever family.

August (or “Gussy” as we sometimes call him) is a total love.  He, like his siblings, is a happy, outgoing, affectionate little guy.  Of the pups, he (along with sister Mercedes) seems to have the most spaniel influence.  This puppy is pure sunshine – he never fails to race over to his foster mom for extra loving.  August has tons of love to give & will surely bring much joy to the family lucky enough to adopt him.

Any of these babies is sure to make a wonderful family companion.  We are seeking responsible, loving home where each of these babies will be welcomed as a family member and made a part of day-to-day life.

If you have the time, willingness and ability to commit to one of these pups – for his/her whole life – no matter what may lie ahead in yours, please register on www.safeatlast.net (click Register on the left-hand side of our homepage).  When you receive your password on your email account, then log back on to the website with your username and password to complete the online adoption application (click Forms/Applications on the left-hand side of our homepage).  Once we have your application, we will contact you by email to schedule the phone interview to commence the review process.  Our process is very straightforward but does involve the phone interview, reference checks and a home assessment.  An adoption fee of $375, and a refundable $35 spay/neuter deposit (required by NYS law), also apply.

These pups are being fostered in a private home; we do not have a centralized facility.  THEREFORE, PLEASE UNDERSTAND THAT YOU CANNOT MEET THE PUPS UNTIL YOU HAVE BEEN APPROVED FOR ADOPTION.  AND, YOU CANNOT BE CONSIDERED FOR ADOPTION UNTIL YOU HAVE COMPLETED THE ONLINE ADOPTION APPLICATION.   ALSO, APPROVED ADOPTERS ARE REQUIRED TO COME TO THE FOSTER HOME (FULTONHAM, NY) TO COMPLETE THE ADOPTION.  WE DO NOT DELIVER OR SHIP OUR RESCUE ANIMALS.

Thank you for your understanding & for helping us save shelter pets, one life at a time.
