  • Species: Dog
  • Current Age: 12 Years 10 Months (best estimate)
  • Housetrained: Yes

THIS IS A COURTESY POSTING TO ASSIST WITH RE-HOMING TWO LOVELY LABS

Eli and Zoey are in need of a new home because circumstances have changed and, sadly, their family can no longer take care of them.  These two are definitely bonded.  So, they will need to be adopted together & stay together for the remainder of their lives.

The dogs’ current caretakers tell us the following:

Eli and Zoey weigh about 70-75 pounds.  They are neutered/spayed and up to date on their shots.  They have also been successfully boarded and have done well when attending doggie day care facilities.

In terms of individual personalities, Eli is mellow & loves to snuggle.  He also loves to play.

Zoey is equally lovable, but she’s not as laid back as Eli.  She's got lots of energy & loves to play, but she also loves to give kisses.

These two are used to being able to run and play off-leash in a large yard with an electric fence.  So, when it comes to leash walking, they tend to want to take off when they see something of interest.  They are very sweet, but also strong and still playful; so, they will need work relative to proper leash manners.

With respect to meeting other dogs, they do better off-leash than on, mainly because they get excited & are curious.  When they are off-leash, they can sniff and poke around, as opposed to straining to check things out when they are being restrained.

Eli and Zoey cohabitated with an elderly cat until she passed away, and they did fine with her.  However, their caretakers think that they would want to chase (and play with) a cat if the cat ran.

As for kids, the present family does not have any.  They think the dogs would be fine with children, the only exception being that they could potentially knock down a little one.  So, a home without toddlers would be preferable.

Eli and Zoey are used to having open access to a yard (with electric fence around the perimeter) at all times.  We are looking for a comparable situation where they can be together, have access to the outdoors in a safe environment with lots of room to run and play, and also have lots of love from their new people. And, of course, they absolutely must stay together for the rest of their lives.

If you are interested in providing a forever home to both Eli and Zoey, please contact Ann at 518-648-0253 or anncarroll998@gmail.com.
