7/30/14 UPDATE: Hi Cindy
Thought you'd enjoy seeing our ' little' girl now. Last Friday at the
vet's she weighed 5 pounds more than she did two weeks ago ! She's almost
30 pounds now. She's very gentle with Sid though and cuddly with her
humans
Hope all is well. How are George's mom and siblings?
Linda

Hi Cindy,
just got home from Georgy's first vet appointment here and wanted to tell
you that our vet was very impressed with your paperwork and
recommendations. And I'm sure she sees a lot of paperwork from various
organizations. just wanted to say kudos on your knowledge and loving care
of our new baby. She's gained four pounds since she's been here so up to
24.3 pounds.
btw, Georgy loves going in the pond. got a lepro shot today too because
she drinks from the pond. she's a great dog paddler. Sid is watching her
and thinking about the swimming.
They are having such fun together. We're loving it!!!!! She is a
wonderful addition to our family.
hope all is well with you,
linda
Zeke
Looking at pictures of Zeke in his forever home, we can’t help but think about how different things could have been for sweet Zeke. The stars really had to align to bring that little guy to Safe at Last and his rescue was truly a group effort. He came so close to becoming a statistic, like so many other homeless pets but instead we get to enjoy pictures of him cuddling with toys and wearing camo reindeer antlers Whenever working in rescue starts to wear us down, frustrate us, and break our hearts, we just think about dogs like Zeke and keep on trucking. Zeke’s journey reminds us it’s all worth it. We hope the day will come when there are no more homeless pets but until then we strive to be part of the solution and save more dogs like Zeke who have run out of options. All we need is your help and support…and of course wonderful adopters like Zeke’s mommy.

And here is an update from Zeke's mom (1/11/2014), which is the BEST New Year's gift we could ever wish for: Good afternoon Theresa,
I just wanted to write on behalf of Zeke and say hi. He is doing great, as
usual. We have a new addition to our family, a rescue kitten. She is
adorable, her name is Gracie. I was never much of a cat person but she
grew on me. Zeke loves to follow (chase) her around the house. She has
never been outdoors so she is still skeptical of going outside but
hopefully she will eventually get there and join him out in the yard.
Zeke is still very lovable, affectionate, needy as always, and extra
spoiled! He loves hiking and wearing his backpack. I feel as if he is a
"worker dog" and likes to feel like he has a mission or a job to
accomplish since he's so easily bored. He always has to be moving and
occupied with something or another.
During the holidays him & Gracie wore matching reindeer sweaters
and surprisingly he loved to wear it. Maybe it felt like a nice hug since
it was a little snug on him.. it looked like a muscle shirt since he's so
jacked, it was adorable! In any event, he really enjoyed wearing it.
I hope all is well with you, Steve, Jillian, and safe At Last! I just
wanted to send some Zeke love your way and hopefully put a smile on your
faces.
Sincerely,
Valerie & Zeke
