Sugar Ray

Update on Leo (October 2016): Hi Cindy, I hope all is well. Â I'm glad Suzi has been sending along Leo updates. Â Here's a few more pics. Â One of Leo hanging out in the back yard at Grandma & Grandpa's house (he loves to visit them, and they love it when he visits) and another of Leo helping make the bed. Â Right now, we're working fencing in a big section of the yard (a birthday present of sorts) so that Leo can have his friends over to play with less worry about them going too far, and maybe he can get an adopted sibling in the future. Â Leo wishes all his litter mates a very happy birthday, and sends you his love. Thanks so much, again, for helping Leo become part of our family! Carl, Suzi, Liana, & Leo ...and another update... ___________________________________________________________________________________________________ Hi Cindy, Most welcome. We always like sharing Leo's exploits, especially with his foster mom! We're so very glad that he found his way to you, and then to us. We needed him in our lives, and he needed a furever home and picked us to be his people. It's so wonderful that he did! He's such a good and fun boy. One of these days, I need to record a video of him running. It's almost like he's got some greyhound in his lineage. I've never seen a faster dog. But then he gets tuckered out and likes a nice rest, preferably using one of his people as a pillow. Those "dachsadors" are adorable! We're not quite ready yet. After not hearing from the fence contractor for some time, he finally texted me back to tell me that he hopes to finish our estimate by sometime next week. Hopefully he does. It will be great to have our yard as a play area for Leo and his buddies. Have a great night, Carl, Suzi, Liana, and Leo ___________________________________________________________________________________________________ Update on Leo (formerly Sugar Ray) (July 2015): Leo's family wrote to tell us both sad and happy news. Last week, after a battle with cancer, Leo's big brother Kansas passed away in the comfort of his home, surrounded by his loving family. Kansas went to the Rainbow Bridge after having been an amazing influence in Leo's life. Shortly after Kansas' passing, Leo took the plunge and went swimming for the first time. No doubt, big brother Kansas is looking down proudly on his little brother. We send our deepest sympathies to Leo's family for their loss. We know Kansas will be remembered with love & warm thoughts by all, including his little brother. And we are glad Leo is there to bring joy and comfort to his family. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________ Hi Cindy! I just wanted to give you a Leo update & send some pics. He became part of the family right away and he's making himself quite at home. We have a little more work to do on house training, but it's going quite well. He and Kansas are getting along very well, too. They've been playing a lot when we go out for walks. Leo always wants to be right with us. He'll dive right on your lap or flop over on your feet so you know he wants some love. He's very well-mannered when it comes to (our) food, too. He's definitely interested, but not overly. He hasn't quite gotten the concept of playing with us and a ball yet, but he has started throwing a ball on his own and then going to get it. Sometimes he'll grab one and bring it up a little hill, then let it roll down the hill and chase it. Leo's a fun, sweet, loving little pup. Just like we thought when we met him the first time! Thanks so much for helping us make him a part of our family! Carl, Suzi, Liana, Kansas, and Leo

Samson

Update on Renzo/formerly Samson (4/28/16): Hi Cindy! Just thought I'd touch base and let you know Renzo is doing GREAT! He's growing like a weed, has a voracious appetite, and pretty much just loves life! He's already been on a road trip to Maryland to meet all of the grandchildren (and is getting ready to go again in a few days) and goes on all my errands with me so he can get as much socialization as possible. Oh, and his two favorite things in the world are playing soccer with me (he literally would do it for hours if I had the stamina!) and now, after today, swimming in the creek with Missy Brown. I could not possibly love this puppy more than I do. He is AMAZING! Thank you again for saving him and bringing him into our life! Shirley ___________________________________________________________________________________________________ Cindy, Just wanted to let you know that Renzo's homecoming went perfectly.... even better than I had hoped or imagined. We had a short *meet and greet* outside which went great and then took them for a walk together. He and Missy seemed to fall in love instantly! When we brought them inside, Renzo slinked around at first like he had never been in a house before.... it was sad but sweet at the same time. It only took him a minute to settle right in and he and Missy are doing fabulously together! They've shared treat time together (kongs filled with a little doggie peanut butter) and now are snoozing away! We seriously could not be more thrilled. He is even more amazing than we thought and we can't take our eyes off of him. Thank you, thank you, thank you for rescuing him and letting us love him for the rest of his life!!! Richard & Shirley

Star

6/18/15 - Frankie got spayed this week! And look at those ears! ___________________________________________________________________________________________________ 4/25/15 - The animals wouldn't cooperate so this is how we had to take their photo hahaha ___________________________________________________________________________________________________ Our Zeke got a new little sister! Frankie aka Star, and here is what mom Valerie has to say: Hi Cindy! I'm sorry I didn't write sooner. Star is doing so good here. We named her Frankie. It seems to suit her well :) Zeke loves her already. She is warming up to him more and more each day. He is extremely gentle with her and stays out of her way unless she is in a playful mood. When she first got here she was quiet and shy. She would growl or bark at him when he tried to sniff her and said hi. She does that less and less and plays more and more. She is also learning things pretty quickly. Watching her run in the yard is one of my favorite things. She looks like she is galloping or something. It's adorable. Gracie (the cat) is petrified of Frankie. Shes been hiding out. I'm hoping she warms up to the new puppy soon! Vet check up is next and I will absolutely keep you posted on her progress! Thanks for saving her and her siblings and for taking such good care of them!! Lots of love, Valerie, Zeke & Frankie
