About MAXX

Maxx came to us in dire circumstances.  He had been hit by a car and sustained multiple serious injuries - pelvic fractures, fractured rear leg, bad external wounds...

He was brought to Upstate Veterinary in Latham, where one of the staff -- our Emily -- saw him and contacted us at Safe at Last.  We signed on for Maxx so that he would not be euathanized, and then we pursued evaluations by several vets to decide on the best course of action.

Maxx ultimately had his surgery at the Veterinary Specialities clinic in Pattersonville.  He did have to have his right rear leg amputated and an illial fracture in his pelvis repaired... And, there was some serious rehab time ahead.  Amazingly/thankfully, one of the vet techs at Vet Specialities fell in love with Maxx & after a brief time with foster mom Jillian at Safe at Last, Maxx went to Ed and Michael for the remainder of his recouping period.

Well, after a period of recuperation and acclimation to the other canine and feline family members, all are "in love" and that means that Maxx has found his forever home!!!!!  We are thrilled!!!!!!!!!  Maxx could not possibly have found a better family, and we are so very thankful.

Anyway, as we officially finalize Maxx's adoption, we wanted to get this epilogue to Maxx's story up on our site --as many of you have been following our FB page and my personal page about Maxx's plight.  We also THANK YOU SO MUCH for your donations to help with Maxx's vet bills...

We are just so thrilled to report that this story -- which had such a horribly tragic beginning -- will have an unbelievably happy ending.

It is certainly true that we can't change the whole world.  But, with the help of so many kind hearted people, we did change the world for Maxx (and we will keep trying to make that happen for others).

Again, thank you for following Maxx's story and, of course, for your continued support.
