Meet Darla!

Darla is about 5 1/2 months old (born ~April 2022). Our best guess is she is a Cattle Dog/Heeler, mixed possibility with Beagle? It's difficult to tell from the photos but she's still a petite girl, only about 30lbs (as of 10/1/22). We expect her adult weight to be medium (~40-45lbs), no guarantee of course.

Darla is doing great in foster care. She is practicing crate training and doing well with housebreaking.

Darla is also fostered with cats and other dogs. And apart from regular puppy stuff, we think she'd be fine in a home with kids.

She is super sweet. Semi-active breed mix so it will be important to keep her both mentally & physically satisfied.

As always, keep in mind that adopting a puppy is more than falling in love with a picture. Along with lots of love, these pups (like all pups) will need leadership from their humans and continued training to allow them to become good canine citizens.

Darla is spayed, microchipped, up-to-date on core vaccines, dewormed, & current on flea/tick/heartworm preventative.

To pursue adoption, please register on www.safeatlast.net.  (Click Register on the left-hand side of our homepage.)  When you receive your password on your email account, please log back on to our website to complete the SAFE AT LAST on-line adoption application.  (Click Forms/Application on the left-hand side of our homepage and select the Adoption Application.) Once we have your completed application, if we feel you are a good match, we will contact you by email (So, please check your SPAM.)  Our process is straightforward but involves an interview, reference checks and a home assessment.  An adoption fee of $450 applies.

YOU CANNOT MEET THE PUPS UNTIL YOU HAVE BEEN APPROVED TO ADOPT.  WE CANNOT CONSIDER YOU UNTIL YOU HAVE SUBMITTED THE FULLY FILLED OUT SAFE AT LAST ON-LINE ADOPTION APPLICATION.  Delay in submitting your application will put you behind other potentially suitable applicants.  Ultimately, approved adopters will be required to pick the pups up in Schoharie County.
