About CANDY CANE

  • Status: Adopted!
  • Species: Dog
  • Current Age: 8 Years 6 Months (best estimate)
  • Housetrained: No
Meet Candy Cane.  She is one of momma Daisy Mae's pups, and she is now ready for a forever home of her very own.  All the pups in this litter are fun, loving, sweet, affectionate and social.  They love people attention, they love to play, and they get along great with other dogs.  These pups are a mix of two wonderful breeds - shepherd (on momma Daisy's side) and black lab (yes, we do know who dad is and he is a gorgeous-looking black lab).  We expect these pups will be on the upper end of medium (50-60 lbs) to the lower end of large (60 to 70 lbs) when full grown.  Currently (1/12), puppy Noel is the largest at about 20 lbs.  Candy Cane and Claus are the smallest, at around 12 lbs, and Rudolph, Kringle and Joy are between 17 to 18 lbs.  All are lovely puppies.

If you have the time, willingness and ability to commit to one of these pups – for her/his whole life – no matter what may lie ahead in yours, please register on www.safeatlast.net (click Register on the left-hand side of our homepage).  When you receive your password on your email account, then log back on to the website with your username and password to complete the online adoption application (click Forms/Applications on the left-hand side of our homepage).  Once we have your application, we will contact you by email to schedule the phone interview to commence the review process.  Our process is very straightforward but does involve the phone interview, reference checks and a home assessment.  An adoption fee of $ 375 also applies, plus a refundable $35 spay deposit (required by NYS law).

These pups are being fostered in a private home; we do not have a centralized facility.  THEREFORE, YOU CANNOT MEET THE PUPS UNTIL YOU HAVE BEEN APPROVED FOR ADOPTION, & YOU CANNOT BE CONSIDERED FOR ADOPTION UNTIL YOU HAVE COMPLETED THE ONLINE ADOPTION APPLICATION.  ALSO, ADOPTERS ARE REQUIRED TO COME TO THE FOSTER HOME (IN SCHOHARIE COUNTY, NY) TO COMPLETE THE ADOPTION.  WE DO NOT DELIVER OR SHIP OUR RESCUE ANIMALS.

If you have any questions or need assistance, please email us at info@safeatlast.net.

Thank you for your interest & for helping us save pets in need, one life at a time.
