Dachsador Cash

Happy Thursday ! All is going very well at the Schmid household! All our babies are acclimated to their new "little" brother. No belly problems, but he is quite the drinker(we think he has a hole in his lip; he is so sloppy! Hahaha!). Potty training has been a breeze, and he is now used to his leash and taking lots of walks! He is sleeping right next to his bed and sleeps all night! He is so in-tune to Khris and will make an amazing comfort dog. Thank you for all that you have done! We are so blessed! Love from The Schmid's and Kashi (Cash)

Dachsador Cole

Hi Cindy, He is the smartest puppy in the whole world. 3 days in and only one minor pee accident because we were watching a movie that was too long. He lets us know every time he needs to go. No puppy pads needed! The vet said he's healthy and scheduled his next shots for mid-November and will microchip during neutering later down the road. He made a couple friends at the vet! We didn't even get a crate till today but Poe loves it oddly enough. We just keep it open and he likes to go in on his own. He brought a bunch of his toys in it and hangs out when he's not playing with us. He learned stairs up and down (after we finally stopped carrying him when he cried). He also is learning the intricacies of leash training, or maybe we are. Either way he's going on walks at least 3 times a day... After breakfast/before work, after lunch and after dinner potty/party time. We'll keep you posted for sure!!! We are all super happy.

Sugar Ray

Update on Leo (October 2016): Hi Cindy, I hope all is well. Â I'm glad Suzi has been sending along Leo updates. Â Here's a few more pics. Â One of Leo hanging out in the back yard at Grandma & Grandpa's house (he loves to visit them, and they love it when he visits) and another of Leo helping make the bed. Â Right now, we're working fencing in a big section of the yard (a birthday present of sorts) so that Leo can have his friends over to play with less worry about them going too far, and maybe he can get an adopted sibling in the future. Â Leo wishes all his litter mates a very happy birthday, and sends you his love. Thanks so much, again, for helping Leo become part of our family! Carl, Suzi, Liana, & Leo ...and another update... ___________________________________________________________________________________________________ Hi Cindy, Most welcome. We always like sharing Leo's exploits, especially with his foster mom! We're so very glad that he found his way to you, and then to us. We needed him in our lives, and he needed a furever home and picked us to be his people. It's so wonderful that he did! He's such a good and fun boy. One of these days, I need to record a video of him running. It's almost like he's got some greyhound in his lineage. I've never seen a faster dog. But then he gets tuckered out and likes a nice rest, preferably using one of his people as a pillow. Those "dachsadors" are adorable! We're not quite ready yet. After not hearing from the fence contractor for some time, he finally texted me back to tell me that he hopes to finish our estimate by sometime next week. Hopefully he does. It will be great to have our yard as a play area for Leo and his buddies. Have a great night, Carl, Suzi, Liana, and Leo ___________________________________________________________________________________________________ Update on Leo (formerly Sugar Ray) (July 2015): Leo's family wrote to tell us both sad and happy news. Last week, after a battle with cancer, Leo's big brother Kansas passed away in the comfort of his home, surrounded by his loving family. Kansas went to the Rainbow Bridge after having been an amazing influence in Leo's life. Shortly after Kansas' passing, Leo took the plunge and went swimming for the first time. No doubt, big brother Kansas is looking down proudly on his little brother. We send our deepest sympathies to Leo's family for their loss. We know Kansas will be remembered with love & warm thoughts by all, including his little brother. And we are glad Leo is there to bring joy and comfort to his family. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________ Hi Cindy! I just wanted to give you a Leo update & send some pics. He became part of the family right away and he's making himself quite at home. We have a little more work to do on house training, but it's going quite well. He and Kansas are getting along very well, too. They've been playing a lot when we go out for walks. Leo always wants to be right with us. He'll dive right on your lap or flop over on your feet so you know he wants some love. He's very well-mannered when it comes to (our) food, too. He's definitely interested, but not overly. He hasn't quite gotten the concept of playing with us and a ball yet, but he has started throwing a ball on his own and then going to get it. Sometimes he'll grab one and bring it up a little hill, then let it roll down the hill and chase it. Leo's a fun, sweet, loving little pup. Just like we thought when we met him the first time! Thanks so much for helping us make him a part of our family! Carl, Suzi, Liana, Kansas, and Leo

Robin

Update on Nellie (October 2016): Hi Cindy! I hope you have been well...Nellie (formerly known as Robin from the sky litter, adopted May 2015) and I wanted to send you an update. It has been such a joy watching Nellie come out of her shell more and more everyday. Nellie loves to be outside no matter what the weather...although as she has gotten her adult fur we are learning she has a preference for the winter and she can't wait for the snow again. She loves to go on hikes and walks, run in figure eights, and dig wherever she can get her paws on. She is so friendly to other dogs and loves every ounce of attention she can get from people. We are so thankful everyday to have her as a part of our family and can't thank you enough for all you do. Here are some pictures of our girl! Emily DeGiule ___________________________________________________________________________________________________ Update on Nellie (8/26/15): Hi Cindy! Nellie (Robin) and i wanted to send you an update as we have made some recent changes! Nellie and I have recently moved to the greater Boston area for some new adventures! My fiancé Billy and I were extremely picky when choosing an apartment since Nellie is such an active dog and our patience paid off because we are now living in a suburban area with a huge fence in backyard and plenty of trails/paths around us. I am constantly impressed by Nellie's "go with the flow" temperament and how quickly she adapts. She is really such a special pup and we continue to just fall in love with her. She has turned into quite the goofy pup and you can almost always find her with a giant smile on her face. She is about 45 pounds now and Billy and I joke that she doesn't have a graceful bone in her body. But boy does she LOVE to run! Whether it's in the yard full steam (she always runs in figure eights) or at a much slower pace with me around town. Anyways, sorry for the update turning a bit longer than I expected...I could go on and on about her. Billy and I cannot thank you enough for all that you do and especially for bringing such an amazing dog into our lives. We feel beyond blessed to have her as a part of our family, we hope you are enjoying your summer! Emily, Billy, and Nellie! ___________________________________________________________________________________________________ Update on Nellie (6/25/15): Hi Cindy! Nellie (formerly known as Robin) got spayed yesterday and I thought it'd be a great time to send you an update and some pictures of her! She know weighs 34.8 pounds and has grown so much! I honestly cannot brag about her enough...she had a shy and more timid personality when she first arrived home, but man oh man has she come out of her shell! Nellie is naturally well behaved and has made training quite easy, but she has such a wild and goofy side too : ) Nellie loves to have fun, meet new dogs (she knows every house on our road that has a dog), play, go on adventures, and get endless belly rubs! She loves to run, hike, chase Zoe (her favorite), and is learning to love the water at the lake! We cannot thank you for allowing us to have her in our lives as she really has become such a wonderful part of this family. Thank you! We hope you enjoy the summer! ___________________________________________________________________________________________________ Update on Nellie (formerly Robin): Hi Cindy! Below are some pictures of the beautiful Nellie. Watching her adventure out, try new things, and really come into her own has been such a fun time for all of us! She is so in love with being outdoors and her and Zoe have become fast friends. We cannot thank you enough for this beautiful pup and I feel beyond grateful to have this new joy in my life! Emily and Nellie ____________________________________________________________________________________________________ Hi Cindy! I just wanted to touch base with you and give you an update on puppy Nellie! She has been integrating beautifully into her new home and I am so beyond impressed with her! The first day was definitely an adjustment, but she has been coming out of her shell more and more each day. She has been responding well to her crate (sleeping through the night!) and has been doing great with the leash. She follows Zoe around all over the yard and loves playing with her (especially chasing Zoe while Zoe chases a frisbee). I will send pictures later this week! I cannot thank you enough for this beautiful pup! She is really just so wonderful. Enjoy this beautiful weather! Dachsador Caydee

Good morning Cindy. Just wanted to let you know that Daschka aka Caydee (we finally settled on her name!) is doing great!!! Already running outside on the property with the boys. Loves having her big crate to sleep in...no accidents in the house at all even overnight. Is less sure of the cats!!! Boys are good but dubious at this stage.. they will settle though I am sure :-). Chevy particularly is jealous but he has been the baby for a while and is unhappy about the potential displacement! Pictures will follow!
