Fallon

Update on Fallon/now Trooper (October 2016): Hello! Thanksgiving has just passed here and we wanted to let you know how grateful we are for the handsome four legged boy in the pictures. Trooper, grown twice his size and surprisingly solid since we brought him home from you in early April, is a wonderful friend. He's had his "wee operation" with no troubles. (Please cash the $30 cheque anyway and consider it a donation to the very good work Safe At Last is doing!) He is a truly lovely dog. He has all the fun of a terrier, but is also eager to please and so very quick to learn. We are all enjoying his companionship and I'm pretty sure, he is enjoying ours! Many thanks again for giving him such a healthy start after a very unsure beginning in life. Take good care. Christine, Aaron, Evelyn & Tia. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________ Good Evening Sharon and Dennis: A short note to let you know that we made it home safe and sound. It made for a long day -- and quite an adventure given the snow squalls -- but we are now all safely tucked in. Not sure what Master Fallon thinks of all of this but it we are pretty sure he doesn't t like the cold. Your paperwork was great and ensured a totally seamless process at the border. We were stopped for about two minutes in total: the border agent looked carefully at the folder and handed it all back to us with a smile and we were on our way. We will be in touch with more pictures. Again, thank you both for everything. The Hywarrens

Mason

Mason came to our rescue from Gallia County in Ohio. Mason is a very special boy -- he has "tremors" due to an under-developed cerebellum. This means he will always shake; there is no treatment. In Ohio, Mason was fortunate enough to be taken in by caring rescue workers -- Friends of Gallia County. He quickly became a favorite of his foster mom, Patty, and she, together with rescue coordinator Julie, worked on finding this boy a special place... Mason came to our rescue, and he has found his most special forever home with one of our former adopters, the LaPierre family. These wonderful people have embraced Mason's "specialness." Mason/now Arlo is much loved, and we all could not be happier. The picture and communications below tell the story... ___________________________________________________________________________________________________ Good Morning Sharon! We made it home safe and sound! Arlo had a great first night. We woke at about 530am for some cuddle time. The boys are overly excited to welcome him and Jace has taken a particular liking! He is very gentle and playful with Arlo which is awesome! I wanted to send a pic of what I walked into after having my coffee this morning..it warms my heart! Lots of Love The LaPierre Family and Arlo ___________________________________________________________________________________________________ __________________________________________________ Good morning Sarah, I see our future vet is fast asleep with her new baby. I like the name Arlo...and I know that the LaPierre Family will love and adore him all his life as you already do. Sarah, you and Kevin are two very special people and your three girls as well. Miss Danyelle is one very special young lady. I know Rylie and Hayley must truly be as wonderful girls as well, and I look forward to one day meeting them. Anyway, hope you have a wonderful Sunday. It is chilly here but the sun is shining and it is a gorgeous day in so many ways. I am sending this wonderful update and picture to Miss Patty (his foster mom in Ohio) and Miss Julie in NYC who coordinates and finds rescues and sometime homes for these wonderful souls in need. They are like Cindy, Dennis and I, so very grateful and blessed to you folks. Thank you to for bringing Aggie yesterday so I could see her again. No doubts how much she I loved and treasured by her family. Hugs and kisses to all the kids including the two legged ones, and a special hello to Danyelle and Arlo. She is my kind of young lady... Sharon, Dennis, Cindy, Patty and Julie ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ ___________________ Dear Family and Sharon: What wonderful news for Arlo, formerly Mason. We were so worried when he first came into rescue, then felt Arlo was blessed when Sharon and Cindy pulled him( they are fantastic! Would that all the rescuers were like them!) and now feel that Arlo is doubly blessed to find his forever family in you. His Gallia foster Patty said he was an absolutely wonderful puppy and she has saved more puppies than anyone else in Gallia County, a bad place for dogs. If not for her - and Sharon and Cindy- and now you- Arlo's future would have been bleak, instead of joyous! You sound like the perfect family for this smart, beautiful pup -(especially his friend, the future vet! ). We love this picture! You and Arlo are why we do rescue! Thanks from the bottom of my heart! Julie

Lil House Pup Half-Pint

Hi Cindy, Wanted to give you an update on Ms. Peanut (aka Half Pint). She is doing awesome! Everyone loves her, especially my father. She's been going to all of the shows with me and has a following among all the competitors. She also goes to work with me every day and is the queen of the office. I've attached a few photos so you can see how she has adjusted -- Peanut's first night here; Peanut meeting a horse for the first time (The horse is Wally and he is Peanut's BFF in the backyard); Peanut lazing in the spring sunshine...she loves being outdoors; Peanut and Little One, the bunny; Peanut visiting friends. She's done a lot of traveling this summer...and we have a few more to go. She's also done a 5 mile hike, attended a polo match and has destroyed pretty much every toy she has. It's never a dull moment...she keeps me in stitches. Thanks so much for entrusting me with this little monster. She has helped me a lot, especially with the loss of Duncan. Erin

Tyler

Update (August 2016): Hi Cindy! Mark and I were just talking about you the other day and I thought, gee, I think I'll send her a new picture! We have had a crazy year. Pooter (our Shih tzu) passed away in the fall and we were all so sad. He and Mark and been companions for 16 years and he and Tyler had been together since the day we brought him home from your house. We got a new puppy - Gidget! She is also a rescue and came from Tennessee. She is a shih tzu/carrion terrier mix and is full of it! She and Tyler DID NOT hit it off at all, but we all just took it slow and kept them separate with a huge divider in our living room. In the spring we bought a new house and once they were in a new spot everything was good! They are both adjusting to an invisible fence (which Tyler can fly through....we are still working on this!). Everyone went on our trip to NC in July and had a great time! We hope you are well and when we drive past the Middleburgh exit we always think of you and the four-legged fur baby that is such a great part of our family! Love, Larisa (and Family!) ___________________________________________________________________________________________________ Update (July 2015): Hi Cindy! We just returned from our annual trip to North Carolina (Tyler's 3rd!) I just wanted to share since he continues to bring so much joy to our family! ___________________________________________________________________________________________________ Cindy, Things continue to go well and everyone is adjusting! Hannah and I took him for his vet appointment and he dazzled everyone with his cuteness! He was so good - and not afraid. He wanted to play with the other pets in the waiting room :). He has an ear infection in his left ear, so we got some medicine for it. He enjoys his walks, and LOVES the snow! Yesterday was his first "work" day - and he did great! Pooter, Ty and I went for a walk and played outside for a while. He has slept through the night, and as soon as the lights are out, he digs his little nest of blankets next to our bed and is out until morning! He follows me if I get up in the night, but settles right back in! Again, thanks for all the work you did with him....we know how hard puppy training is, and he is just wonderful! He has also been on a playdate with Lori's dogs, and he and Scotty got along great! They tired each other out! Hope your vacation was restful! Enjoy the new year, we will be in touch! Larisa

Lil House Pup Charles

August 2016 Update on Charlie -- We hear he is doing incredibly well. He is happy and loving life. It doesn't get any better than that!! Just look at that big smile!!! ___________________________________________________________________________________________________ Update on our little Charles: ... He has been the most precious thing ever. My neighbors had a party and I brought him over and he just slumped into everyone's lap or arms. One girl works at bid awee was telling me that he is so loving w people and that can be rare w rescue dogs. So you guys did a great job with him. I had them both outside all day and Kylie is snapping less and less when he tries to play. She did steal some of his toys already but he's so laid back. He does sit on her sometimes and she just growls then accepts it. I took some go pro footage of them so when jess comes back we can watch and post some of it. Best, Tom OBrien
