Benjamin
We had a good trip home! Benji (formerly Benjamin) slept the whole ride. He was a little timid when first meeting his new sister but it seems as if they will get along nicely. Thank you again for everything. I have a vet appointment already scheduled for Tuesday. We will get an appointment to have him neutered then. Once I send in the confirmation we would like the rescue to keep the $35 deposit fee as our donation to all the good work you do. Thanks again! Annie Mike Malley and Benji!

Sharon,
So, you want to know how things are going? Where do I begin? It has been only 4 days since Maggie came into our lives, and in that short time she has touched us in ways that we never really expected. We offered to foster her because you, Cindy and all of our friends at Safe at Last changed our lives when we adopted TJ a year and a half ago, and we wanted to return the favor by helping you out in your time of need. It has been remarkable how quickly Maggie has figured out that she is safe, loved and taken care of. I am also amazed by how fast TJ has accepted her into his house. He was a little standoff-ish at first, but that only lasted a few hours. By the time we all went to bed on Friday, Maggie had already figured out where her spot on the couch is, where she sleeps and she and TJ started playing with each other for the first time. By the time the weekend was over, she and TJ were playing together a lot, walk side by side around the house together, follow each other around and enjoy being together. We've commented many times this weekend that Maggie never really ever had the chance to be a puppy, but she seems to have figured out that she is home now, and it has brought out her playful side. She can finally just be herself in a safe stable environment. Maggie has been sleeping in Catherine's room (Maggie's choice) and in the morning TJ can't wait to go see her. He hops out of our bed and waits outside of Catherine's door. This morning, when I opened Catherine's door, Maggie was sitting up on the bed, tail wagging waiting for TJ to jump up. He quickly obliged and the two of them laid down next to each other and went back to sleep. There isn't any question about whether they will get along together. They have already become best buddies.
The bottom line of this story is that Maggie has found her forever home with us. We want to adopt her and give this little girl the kind of life she has never known. We are setting up her first appointment with our Vet, and I have no expectation that Safe at Last will pay for any of the bills. We have welcomed Maggie into our home and are ready to take on all responsibility for her. We are grateful that we were able to offer to help out when you and Maggie needed us, and it has been a pretty easy decision for us to decide to make the foster arrangement permanent.
So, it seems that Safe at Last has again played match maker and found the perfect arrangement for everyone involved. Just let us know what we need to do from here and you can be assured that Maggie has finally stopped moving and has found her forever home.
I've attached a bunch of pictures of Maggie so you can see just how happy she is to be joining our family!
And, thanks for the Father's Day greeting. What better way to celebrate Father's Day than by adding another child to our flock! Thanks again for everything you do for these animals and the families you bring them together with!
With lots of furry love,
Tim and Lynn

Laila
Update on Laila (July 2015): Hi Cindy,
We just wanted to send you a quick email and give you an update on Laila.
As you can see from the attached photos she is having a great summer so
far! This was our first year taking Duke out on the boat so it was new for
both of them. Duke prefers to relax on the boat and Laila is happy romping
in the water.
Laila has been keeping Duke young with her energy but he does not seem to
mind since he never looses his patience with her no matter how many times
she bites his ears :) She is such a fantastic dog and we are so happy to
have her as part of our family.
Love,
Kim, Brett, Duke and Laila.

Hi Cindy,
We just wanted to let your know that Laila is doing great! The photo I am sending is from Monday evening so as you can see she is no longer afraid of Duke :)
She used the dog door for the first time all on her on this evening to potty outside so she is well on her way to being house broken. She can now hold her bladder for 4 hours which is great!
She goes to the vets on Friday and afterwards I will take her to work so she can meet some of my co workers.
She is definitely feeling comfortable here and is a playful happy pup. Duke has been a great big brother to her and we are all happy she is part of our family.
Best,
Kim and Brett
Rosie
Here is Penny (formerly Rosie). Her mom and dad tell us that she is sweet and smart and that she is very much loved!!
Dottie
Hi
I was just checking your web site to find an address to send you a donation. I found the address and the check is in the mail.
My wife and I adopted Dottie in May of 2011 and she has given us more pleasure than one can imagine. You described her on your web site as a "sweetie pie" and that description is unbelievably accurate. The most amazing thing about her is that in the four years we have had her she has never woken us up in the morning-no matter how late we sleep. She sleeps with us in the middle of our king size bed on her back, head on a pillow and covers up to her neck. She will not get up until we both get up. She is amazing in this and every way. We can not thank you enough for allowing us to adopt this wonderful dog who has changed our lives.
. . .
Thank you again for our Dottie and all that you do for animals.
Sincerely,
Gary(and Sandy) Philips
